Sana Lake Behavioral Wellness offers people struggling with substance use disorders and mental health disorders comprehensive, personalized treatment.

Treatment at Sana Lake Behavioral Wellness is based on the proven, evidence-based, recovery-oriented system of care to addiction and mental health treatment. Treatment centers in Missouri as well as the rest of the country generally treat substance use disorder and mental health challenges with an acute care medical model. But, we empower our members to take control of and have input in their recovery. 

What is a Recovery-Oriented System of Care?

“A recovery-oriented system of care is a coordinated network of community-based services and supports that is person-centered and builds on the strengths and resiliencies of individuals, families, and communities to achieve abstinence and improved health, wellness, and quality of life for those with or at risk of alcohol and drug problems.”

So, instead of a program that treats you then releases you, we coordinate ongoing recovery support to help members achieve Recovery for Life. Our comprehensive whole-person recovery approach is also rarely found in a treatment facility. 

It includes:

Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP)

Sana Lake Behavioral Wellness Center’s partial hospitalization program, offers the intensity of an inpatient program during the day, while at night, members go to their homes. This high-intensity program also addresses each member’s specific needs and challenges. 

Members in a PHP typically spend 15-20 hours a week six days a week in treatment. While in treatment, members work with our compassionate, knowledgeable team of experts in the following therapies.

  • Medication management
  • Family programs
  • Supportive peer services
  • Community support specialists

Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) and Outpatient Program

The intensive outpatient program at Sana Lake Behavioral Wellness is often the next step after completing our PHP. However, some members may begin in this program depending on the stage of their recovery. Members in an IOP typically spend 8 to 10 hours 2 to 3 days a week with a therapist in various treatments. 

General outpatient programs (OP) at Sana Lake Behavioral Wellness provide members with the same high-quality recovery treatment as a PHP. However, most members in outpatient programs are at a recovery point where they require a less intense treatment program. For this reason, members typically attend therapy 2 to 3 hours a week for up to 6 months. 

Pharmacotherapy

Pharmacotherapy or medication-assisted treatment (MAT) combines FDA-approved medications and behavioral therapies to treat the whole person. People struggling with alcohol use disorder (AUD) and opioid use disorder (OUD) can have severe and possibly fatal side effects from stopping drugs and alcohol. For this reason, programs such as MAT help the body safely recover from drug and alcohol misuse. 

Support and Healing for Families

Family programs at Sana Lake Behavioral Wellness help members and their loved ones work through the past difficulties, set healthy boundaries, and rebuild trusting relationships. Having support from friends and family can also be the motivating factor to maintaining Recovery for Life.

Supportive Recovery Housing

Our Recovery Supportive Housing offers a safe and healthy environment for short or long-term residency. Not all members have a healthy recovery-supportive environment at home. But our recovery-immersed environment allows members to continue rebuilding their lives with the support of all our services.

Maryland Heights is a north suburb of St. Louis located in St. Louis County Missouri. Sana Lake Behavioral Wellness opened the doors to its newly renovated state-of-the-art facility in 2020. 

It is located on Waldon Parkway with easy access on and off the 270.
